After a harsh winter brought two major snowstorms, construction crews at the Jersey Shore say they are weeks behind schedule on their projects.
“This weather has been drastically impactful," one construction company worker said. “I would say in total, we're probably two to three weeks behind.” This latest threat comes after two major snowstorms and is prompting construction crews to take safety precautions while also trying to get back on track.
"We were supposed to put this house up 10 foot today but with the winds coming tonight, I'm going to go about two more feet just to keep it safe and come back tomorrow," Anthony Warner, of S.J. Hauck Construction, explained.“This weather has been drastically impactful," Steven Hauck, of S.J. Hauck Construction, said. “I would say in total, we're probably two to three weeks behind.” The major snowstorms brought brutally cold temperatures and ice that stuck around for weeks along with flooding and high winds."It takes a financial toll because we have set contracts and we have agreements with timelines and then when the weather is like this and the snow pushes everything back," Jerry Curran, of J. Curran Home Services, told NBC10."Some things are not going to get done and it's a hard pill to swallow." Construction crews are hoping that mother nature will cooperate, especially with the start of spring just around the corner and Memorial Day 10 weeks away.
