A motorist in Belmar was arrested under suspicion of driving while intoxicated after the car he was driving slammed into another car and drove a full block down the boardwalk Thursday morning, police said.
Jason Nagy, 44, of Avon was arrested Thursday morning by Belmar police under suspicion of driving while intoxicated and other charges after police say he drove his car in the wrong direction and hit another car before driving along the boardwalk.and Ocean Avenue at 9:16 a.m. on July 11 after receiving a report that a car was traveling north in the southbound lane, hit another vehicle and then accelerated towards the boardwalk, authorities said.
The car Nagy was driving then crashed through a hand railing on the boardwalk at Third Avenue and traveled about one block on the boardwalk before the vehicle stopped, authorities said in a press release. Both Nagy and the driver of the other vehicle were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
