House Judiciary chair Nadler said he formally requested that Mueller testify before the committee to answer questions he said were left unanswered in the redacted version of his report
Earlier Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called for Mueller to testify publicly before Congress, ripping Barr for his “partisan handling” of the release of Mueller’s findings over the past month.
“AG Barr has confirmed the staggering partisan effort by the Trump Admin to spin public’s view of the #MuellerReport – complete with acknowledgment that the Trump team received a sneak preview,” she said in a tweet. “It’s more urgent than ever that Special Counsel Mueller testify before Congress.” The Justice Department announced unexpectedly on Wednesday afternoon that Barr and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein would hold a press conference early Thursday to discuss the report before its release, a step that angered Nadler, who expressed frustration that members of Congress would not receive the report until well after the Justice Department leaders address the press.
