With three regular-season games remaining, the Astros have a 104-55 record with a chance to tie the franchise record for most wins in a season set by the 107-win team in 2019.

Houston Astros' Jeremy Pena drives in Chas McCormick with an RBI single during the seventh inning of a baseball game against the Tampa Bay Rays, Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022, in Houston. Luis Garcia picked up his 15th win of the season in his final regular-season start, Jeremy Peña carried the offense and the Astros claimed a series victory over the Rays with a 3-1 win in Sunday’s finale at Minute Maid Park.

Although he threw with reduced fastball velocity, likely the result of pitching on four days’ rest, Garcia didn’t have much trouble procuring outs. The three relievers who pitched the last three innings for Houston — Ryen Stanek, Bryan Abreu and Rafael Montero — combined to allow more base runners than Garcia did, including Montero’s escape of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth.
