Jeremy Clarkson 's new pub venture, The Farmer's Dog, in Asthall, Oxfordshire is set to welcome patrons this Friday. The establishment has already garnered national curiosity and generated local concern over possible traffic issues, similar to those experienced with his successful Diddly Squat farm shop.
Residents are particularly worried about the potential for increased traffic along the adjacent busy A40 road. One concerned local took to Facebook to say: "I'm delighted he's breathing some new life into that pub," while also voicing their apprehension: "I do worry about traffic though. I popped by the farm shop at the weekend. It was utter chaos."
He went on to say: "We know fans from across the country are going to flock to his pub and I feel we have a responsibility to try and make the roads nearby safe for visitors and those passing by." The council spokesperson stressed: "Several measures have been taken to reduce the likelihood of traffic and parking related problems, and to support the safe and successful opening of the site."
The council has called on motorists to use official car parks and refrain from verge or road parking. The spokesperson went on to advise: "Parking will be monitored, and if necessary, controls may be imposed in the future,". Jeremy Clarkson has extended his gratitude towards Oxfordshire County Council for their aid in the swift launch of his new pub. On Thursday evening, he made his appreciation known via social media, stating: "Credit where credit is due. Our new pub opens tomorrow and this might sound odd but I'd like to thank Oxfordshire County Council for all their help. We couldn't have done it so fast without you.
