Weight loss empire Jenny Craig will no longer operate any brick-and-mortar stores as it winds up its Australia and New Zealand business and moves to a limited online-only capability through an external healthcare company.
Trading across Jenny Craig’s Australia and New Zealand branch will be terminated immediately as the organisation commences the process of liquidation.
Appointed administrators from business advisory firm FTI Consulting confirmed on Wednesday that all acquisition plans for the company had been unsuccessful despite over a dozen parties placing bids to take over the business. “The Administrators have today advised all of the employees in Australia New Zealand that a sale of the business with the stores continuing to trade and staff continuing their employment has not been achievable.
Jenny Craig serviced more than 700 weight management centres across Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the US and recruited several high-profile celebrity ambassadors including Mariah Carey, Casey Donovan and late Australian comedian Barry Humphries.
