We chat with StarWarsTheBadBatch head writer jennifercorbett & director Brad Rau about crafting season 2, collaborating with Dee Bradley Baker, and the potential of Omega crossing paths with Boba Fett:

Warning: SPOILERS for Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 1.Star Wars: The Bad Batch is back for a new season of lore-expanding adventures, thrilling action, and the unique family dynamic that made the first season such a captivating watch. The Bad Batch season 1 set a high bar, further detailing the galaxy's shift from the Republic of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith to the Empire of Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, all while diving into the lives of its clone subjects.

Jennifer Corbett: I think we knew early on that following the loss of Tipoca City, [we'd be] starting off at a point where the Empire thinks that the Bad Batch perished. Now they're in this window where they're off the Empire's radar, so they have a little bit more freedom. But, that means keeping a low profile, and not engaging, and not getting involved in [those] bigger conflicts, and how long that lasts for them.

Brad Rau: We can see the Empire getting bigger, and mightier, and more imposing. If we get close to that fire, it's going to get hot. We wanted to really make sure that, specifically through the mouths of our characters, it's like, "Are we going to do this?" If they interact at all with Empire, whether on purpose or accidentally, we want it to have a big impact. It's something we talk about a lot. The Empire is rising. They're not going anywhere.

When he actually is performing... It was so fun to be able to be on stage at Celebration with Dee and Michelle to have them do a live reading, so the fans can see not only how talented Michelle is, but Dee going between all of the different characters live. He does that every single session. It's wild. So, he doesn't need a lot of direction, but we're there to make sure that we're telling the story the right way.

Brad Rau: We got Ian McDiarmid to come in and do the voice. What an amazing treat. And directing him - speaking of not needing too much direction, [or to] explain how it's going - [I'm] always a little awestruck working with the legacy cast like that. Very unlike the Emperor, he's the nicest guy. [He's} so great. And there was a funny moment where he corrected the grammar in the script. I was like "You tell me, you are the Sith Lord, sir.
