MSNBC host Jen Psaki offered the Republican Party her prognosis.

Psaki appeared alongside Joe Scarborough for Morning Joe on Friday to nail down what she believes is the fundamental problem with the Republican Party, which has the majority in the House of Representatives. Psaki was President Joe Biden's press secretary and worked for then-President Barack Obama before that.

"So, even as we’re working through, navigating, litigating, explaining every detail of Trump’s legal issues, the challenge here is that the positions that the core candidates and leaders of the Republican Party have on issues people care about, whether it’s access to voting, choices about your own healthcare, all of these crazy whack-a-doo cultural debates about gay marriage ... it’s out of touch with the public, and that is a core problem for the party.

Psaki accused the GOP of pursuing legislation that"is trying to make it harder and more difficult to vote" in some states."That means, fundamentally, you’re scared of more people being out there voting because they’re going to vote for your opponent," Psaki said. During a previous segment on her show, Psaki discussed a New York Times/Siena College poll that found 65% of registered voters thought the country was moving in the wrong direction. Of those who answered that way, 37% said they believe"our problems are so bad that America is in danger of failing as a nation."
