Solicitor said: 'He will be concentrating on the case and defending the charges'
Former DUP leader Jeffrey Donaldson does not plan to stand for election as an MP, his solicitor has said. John McBurney is representing Donaldson over 11 non recent sexual offences dating back to 1985.
His case was back for mention in Newry Magistrates' Court on May 22 and afterwards his solicitor told RTE that his client did not intend to stand for election, expected later this year.Read more: 13 questions answered on Jeffrey Donaldson court case Mr McBurney said Donaldson will continue to work as an MP until the election which is is expected to take place in November to take care of constituency matters.
Donaldson and co-accused, wife Eleanor Donaldson is required to return to Newry Magistrates' Court on July 3.
