Former Liberal premier Jeff Kennett has apologised for a sexist remark directed towards a woman at a Young Liberal function on the weekend.
Former Victorian premier Jeff Kennett says he regrets calling a woman a “bitch” who spoke throughout his speech to a Young Liberals function on Saturday night.

One Liberal Party member who was at the event said while there had been a lot of talking over Kennett’s speech, it wasn’t just the table that the woman was sitting at. “She is as quiet as a church mouse, so it wasn’t just her talking – she was just the one immediately in Jeff’s line of sight.”
Kennett said he had been trying to call the woman to say sorry. “I’ve been trying to contact her to apologise but haven’t been able to make contact. So I suspect they’re not taking my calls, which might be understandable. I apologise for using the word.
