By signing the Climate Pledge, Bezos is promising Amazon will implementto meet the requirements laid out in the Paris agreement and to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2040.
The Paris agreement’s goal for global carbon neutrality was 2050, so if Amazon succeeds, it will be a decade ahead. In order to reach these more aggressive goals, Bezos wants 80% of Amazon’s energy usage to be renewable by 2024 and 100% renewable by 2030.
