After the officer stopped the Jeep, he noticed that the male driver had glassy eyes and the officer detected a strong smell of an alcoholic beverage, according to the police report. The driver said he was coming from a local bar, but he had only one beer. The man had trouble maintaining his balance during field sobriety tests and following the officer’s directions, according to the report. The officer charged the driver with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, failing to drive within marked lanes, and driving in a weaving course.A female resident came to the police station on March 6 to complain about a fraudulent check she received in the mail after selling a pair of vintage chairs on Craigslist for $1,600, according to a police report. The woman said she was messaged by a man claiming he wanted to buy the chairs. He was moving to New York and he would send her a check for $3,000. The man said she should keep $1,700 and pay $1,300 to movers to transport the chairs. When the woman took what was supposed to be a cashier’s check to her bank, bank employees informed her that the check was fraudulent. It was printed with poor quality, according to the police report. Because the fraud was discovered before the check was cashed, the victim was not out any money, according to the police department.
