A recall was issued for 63,082 Jeep Cherokees due to the possibility that the vehicles may lose power. Chrysler recalled 2017-2019 model Jeep Cherokee vehicles because the power transfer unit could become damaged and disengage the transmission, causing a loss of drive power and/or loss of park function, according to Consumer Reports. When the vehicles lose drive power or park function this can enhance the risk of a crash.
