An Elon Musk-linked DOGE worker, resigned after reports tied him to a social media account promoting racist and eugenic views. Follow Newsweek's live blog.
Marko Elez, a Department of Government Efficiency employee linked to Elon Musk, has resigned, a White House official confirmed Thursday. What to Know: Elez stepped down following a Wall Street Journal report linking him to a now-deleted social media account allegedly promoting racist and eugenicist views. 'You could not pay me to marry outside of my ethnicity,' read a September post. 'Normalize Indian hate,' another read.
And in December: 'I just want a eugenic immigration policy, is that too much to ask.' Elez was a 'special government employee' at the Treasury Department and had 'read-only' access to sensitive taxpayer data. Before joining the government last month, Elez worked at SpaceX and X, two of Musk's private companies. JD Vance's reaction to the resignation has been noted in a recent tweet.
