'Your morality is not defined by a dollar amount.'

currently puts his net worth at $2.8 billion. In real terms, he could spend $1,000 a day and not run out of money for over 7,671 years.Where does all of Jay's money come from? For one, he's the cofounder and chairman of Roc Nation, an entertainment company.

A lot of his wealth also comes from liquor — as per,"He sold 50% of spirits brand Armand de Brignac, otherwise known as Ace of Spades, to luxury goods giant LVMH in 2021, and sold a majority of his stake in cognac brand D'Usse to Bacardi in 2023."against billionaires posits that having such excessive wealth while others continue to suffer is inherently unethical. Furthermore, some suggest that attaining such a figure is impossible without the exploitation of workers, that any"charitable" donations are ultimately paltry as a percentage, and that environmental costs are likely to be higher. Billionaires can usually end up paying, Jay was asked about people calling him a"capitalist" in a derogatory sense."The only thing I heard coming up was the American dream. You could make it, if you pull yourself up by the bootstraps. I heard that my entire life—until we started being successful. Then it was like: You’re selling out because you’re making money," he replied, calling out the"mind game" of the “struggling artist” ideal."I didn’t get here by taking advantage of people or taking advantage of the loopholes in the system, or some wrinkle in a capitalist structure. That structure exists; I just see the world for what it is, not for what I want it to be. I’m a realist," he continued."I have to deal with the reality of the world, and I’m going to navigate this world not only for me but for a bunch of people that’s been disenfranchised by a system that doesn’t play fair for us. In order for us to progress forward, we have to deal with the world the way it is."On the note of being a billionaire specifically, he later said,"Your morality defines who you are. Your morality is not defined by a dollar amount. And if so, what is that dollar amount? When does it start? If it’s a cutoff like 'all millionaires are bad,' at 999,000 I’m good? It can’t be that way. It doesn’t make any sense. I got successful the hard way, in spite of the way the system is set up. Everything was against me. My talent pushed against all the headwinds and I got successful that way. And with that success, I’ve done things with my reach that I wanted to do that was helpful for a lot of people."most important—the things you believe in, the things you align with. Because a person with more money can do more good. It’s a choice. Again, we’re living in the real world. You can be realistic or idealistic. This is the system that we have. And with the system that we have, what are you going to do?"As for"tension" over public perception that all billionaires are bad, he replied,"I got to give you the honest answer: There’s no tension. I don’t give a fuck what you say. You can believe what you want to believe. And people behave the way they want to behave—it’s not a dollar amount. It’s almost like a cop-out. You get to demonize this group of folks without fixing the actual system that exists, that’s in play. may enhance it or may cause you to act in a way. But you was going to act like that anyway."
