Comedy icon Jay Leno returned to the stage for the first time just days after being released from a burn center for injuries suffered in a garage fire and made light of his accident to the crowd. NBC’s Jacob Soboroff reports for TODAY.
Jay Leno is recovering after a major fall. The 74-year-old former “Tonight Show” host and TV personality arrived at his latest comedy show with an eye patch, broken wrist and bruised face. He told “Inside Edition” that he fell down the side of a hill on his way to dinner before a Pittsburgh show. “I’m a little beat up,” he told the outlet.” “I fell 60 feet. Boom, boom, boom, boom.” Leno said he “hit a bunch of rocks,” which resulted in him being “all black and blue.
” He added, “I’ve got two broken ribs. I’ve got two cracked kneecaps.” At the time, he also told NBC News over the phone that he had been driving his motorcycle when he smelled leaking gas and attempted to pull into an empty parking lot but crashed into a wire that was across two poles. Additionally, in 2022, just two months before his motorcycle accident, Leno was severely burned after a fire erupted in his garage while he was working on his vintage cars.
