The city told the family they can't see the video from July 2nd until the grand jury reviews it first. Mayor Sandy Stimpson's Chief of Staff James Barber said he spoke with District Attorney Keith Blackwood on Monday and requested a grand jury review what happened as soon as possible. Barber says the city also requested the state lab expedite Dallas' toxicology report. He says the cause of death has been determined, and all the investigative material was handed over to the DA's office on Monday. But the information in those reports, including the cause of death, has not been shared with the Dallas family.It's unclear when the grand jury will review the case.
"Keep in mind that we have reviewed the autopsy, cause of death. Even though I can't get into detail with it because of the emotion here, I will say that the cause of death was not attributed directly to the actions of the police officer," said Barber."My son would be alive had they not went to his car, approaching him anyway. So whatever the cause of death is, he wouldn't be dead had they not approached him," said Christine Dallas.
