“I mean, there’s always Cameo, right? This is the end of this story that we wanted to tell, that we were hoping to tell, that we loved to tell. The fact that folks will want more and are curious beyond more than what they don’t even know yet—that being Season 3—it’s flattering. Maybe by May 31, once all 12 episodes of the season [have been released], they’re like, ‘Man, you know what, we get it, we’re fine. We don’t need anymore, we got it.
They can finish telling the story they began while still leaving the door open for potential spinoffs in the future. Since Ted Lasso is one of Apple TV+'s most successful series, the streamer would be eager to keep the story going in another series if Sudeikis and the other creatives involved are on board to expand the narrative. Ted is far from the only adored character in the show.
Sudeikis and Apple TV+ may also just be waiting to see what kind of reception Ted Lasso season 3 receives. Based on what Sudeikis says, it may provide an ending so fulfilling that there won't be any need for Ted to return, or for there to be spinoff shows focused on other characters, no matter how fun they may be. Audiences could end up quite satisfied. Regardless of how fulfilling the ending is, there may still be demand for more content following the characters.
