With Aquaman star Jason Momoa reportedly taking on a new role in James Gunn's DC Universe, new fan art imagines him for the rumored DC role.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT New DC Universe fan art imagines Jason Momoa for his rumored character in James Gunn's upcoming franchise as a total departure from Aquaman. The DCEU timeline comes to an end with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, featuring Momoa once again as Arthur Curry to bring an end to the decades-long franchise.
With rumors floating around that Momoa is supposedly getting eyed to play Lobo in the DC Universe, the infamous alien bounty hunter in DC Comics, the world has been speculating what he could look like in the role. To give a better idea of the prospective role, Yadvender Singh Rana recently shared new fan art of what the Aquaman star could look like if he ends up getting cast as Lobo.
To this point, Lobo has only appeared in one other DC live-action project, as Emmett J. Scanlan portrayed him during Krypton season 2. Scanlan was also set to reprise the role in a Lobo spinoff show after Krypton season 2 until SYFY canceled the mother series and its offshoot project.
What is likely the case here is that while Lobo is probably who he is getting tapped for, Momoa and DC Studios were perhaps still negotiating before the SAG-AFTRA strike went into effect. It is also key to remember that Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom haven't come out yet, and that might be why they are waiting to announce any potential Lobo plans for the DC Universe. Once the SAG-AFTRA strike comes to an end, DC Studios may want to reveal Momoa as Lobo once they have everything figured out.
If Momoa is truly set to play Lobo in upcoming DC Universe releases, it will be interesting to see where Gunn and Safran introduce him, whether it be through someone's TV show or movie or having him debut in his own project. Needless to say, Momoa would be an amazing fit for Lobo, and it would give him something new to do rather than play another superhero like Aquaman. But for now, time will tell what is actually going on with Momoa's involvement in Gunn and Safran's DC Universe.
