Jason Mamoa’s Dante, who marches to the beat of his own psychopathic drum in FastX, is far and away the best part of the movie.
protagonist Dom. No, he wants everyone who’s ever been associated with Dom to suffer catastrophically and terribly, including his entirefam and his young son, Brian “B” Toretto . Dante Reyes does countless unspeakable things, including but not limited to rolling anboulder-sized bomb towards Vatican City in the hopes of exploding Dom and, I guess, the pope. He’s also far and away the best part of the film.
Momoa’s Dante is a quirky, eccentric villain with a God complex and an affinity for the finer things in life. While Dante is not explicitly “queer” per se, in Momoa’s capable and incredibly large hands, he is definitely, well, odd. His nails and toenails are delightfully painted pink and lavender. He sometimes wears his hair in adorable pigtail buns.
As a psychopathic evil wannabe Jesus type, Momoa is a hoot and a half—which is more than can be said for Diesel’s aggressively dour and dutiful Dom. “Enchante,” Dante coos at Dom before wreaking havoc and getting most of the film’s laughs.
