Jason Jones is a former player for Alabama football and has since made coaching stops at UNC, Indiana and more.
Jones joining the Crimson Tide coaching staff is a done deal, a source with knowledge of the situation told AL.com. The formerdecided not to bring back Colin Hitschler
, who had been working with fellow co-defensive coordinator/defensive backs coach Maurice Linguist in the secondary during the 2024 season. Linguist is set to return for the 2025 season. Jones has ample experience coaching players in the secondary. Most recently, he coached cornerbacks at UNC. He also spent time as a coach at Indiana, Florida Atlantic, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, Tulsa, Rice and Alabama, where be started as a graduate assistant two decades ago. Jones played for Alabama from 1996-2000.
His coaching stop at Indiana means he worked with Alabama defensive coordinator Kane Wommack.
