A Japan Airlines plane collided with a parked Delta Air Lines aircraft at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Wednesday. The incident caused minimal impact on airport operations, but resulted in delays and cancellations.

A collision occurred at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) on Wednesday morning involving a Japan Airlines (JAL) plane and a Delta Air Lines plane. The incident took place around 10:15 a.m. on a taxi line between the S Concourse and the south airport maintenance hangars. According to the Port of Seattle, a taxiing Japan Airlines plane struck the tail of a parked Delta Air Lines aircraft. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

Delta Air Lines confirmed to FOX 13 Seattle that their plane was a Boeing 737 scheduled to depart from Seattle to Puerto Vallarta. The airline stated that while the aircraft was in line for deicing, the tail of the 737 reportedly made contact with the wing tip of another airline's aircraft. Delta apologized for the inconvenience and delay caused to their passengers. Passengers on the Delta flight were being transferred to a different aircraft. Passengers on JAL Flight 67, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner en route to Tokyo Narita, reported waiting for updates from the airline regarding their flight. The cause of the collision and the duration of the taxiway closure remain unclear. Port of Seattle officials indicated that airport operations were minimally impacted as the incident occurred on a taxi line. Despite the collision, SEA was already experiencing delays due to winter weather affecting the Pacific Northwest. As of 12 p.m. PT, FlightAware reported at least 146 delays and 27 cancellations at SEA.
