Five allies to former President Donald Trump, including political consultant Roger Stone and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, were issued subpoenas.
"The Select Committee is seeking information about the rallies and subsequent march to the Capitol that escalated into a violent mob attacking the Capitol and threatening our democracy. We need to know who organized, planned, paid for, and received funds related to those events, as well as what communications organizers had with officials in the White House and," Democratic Representative Bennie Thompson of Mississippi, the committee chair, said in a statement.
A number of other individuals involved with planning"Stop the Steal" rallies were issued subpoenas, including Dustin Stockton, Jennifer Lawrence, and Trump's latest spokesperson, Taylor Budowich, who also serves as the communications director for the Save America PAC.
