Bapa Suci Fransiskus memberi semangat kepada para anggota SERMIG agar meneruskan pelayanan sukarela dalam projek keamanan dan perpaduan.“Perang boleh berlaku tanpa Tuhan, tetapi keamanan hanya boleh dilakukan dengan Tuhan,” tegas Sri Paus Fransiskus semasa berucap kepada para anggota Pelayanan Misionari Belia Itami pada Januari 7 lalu.

Ia diasaskan di Turin, Itali Utara, pada tahun 1964 oleh pasangan Katolik Itali, Ernesto Olivero dan isterinya Maria, dan sekumpulan anak muda yang ingin terlibat secara konkrit untuk keadilan sosial dan keamanan yang diinspirasikan oleh Injil. Di antara banyak aktiviti dan inisiatif yang dipromosikan oleh pelayanan tersebut selama enam dekad ini, dan turut diakui oleh Sri Paus Fransiskus ialah transformasi Arsenal Tentera Turin menjadi “Arsenal Keamanan” pada awal tahun lapan puluhan.
