The vice president, acting under his authority as the president of the Senate, has NO power to be the sole decision maker when it comes to picking the next president.
A government created, in part, on the idea that absolute power corrupts absolutely, would never allow one person to pick the next leader of that government. This is not a close call. Eastman and others may claim there are ambiguities in the language of our Constitution and federal statutes. Even if the language in the Constitution or federal laws were vague — which it is not — nothing in the structure or history of our nation’s governing document would allow one person to overturn an election.2h ago / 6:08 PM UTC
