In this Studs Terkel-styled assemblage of book-lover anecdotes, Kelly Moore’s description of what she calls “Book Joy” emerges as perhaps the most romantic aspect of her occupation.According to Moore, a librarian at the Carrollton Public Library, “Book Joy” is all about “matching people with the books that will bring them the most happiness.
In trying to serve the Carrollton community, whether by providing a tech-free reading room or a place to play board games, Moore says, the library found that “people were looking for space.”“We have a lot of people coming in that have computers at home, and they could be at home, but they come to the library just to be around people,” Moore says. “They may not even be talking to anyone, but they just want to be amongst other living human beings.
