James Gunn Compares ‘Creature Commandos’ to ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ “Without the Sentimentality”

James Gunn is no stranger to handling a band of misfits, evident from his work in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise and 2021's The Suicide Squad. Now that Gunn has fully taken over DC Films to relaunch an entirely fresh DC Universe, it is no huge surprise that his next project will be centered on another set of odd characters in the upcoming adult animated series Creature Commandos.

“I'm used to dealing with oddballs and irregular types and weirdos. That's what Guardians is, and Creature Commandos is kind of like Guardians without the sentimentality. The Guardians are all really good characters at their heart, and that just isn't necessarily the case with the creatures.”
