News broke on Monday morning that the Nittany Lions’ starting quarterback informedLess than an hour after Allar’s announcement, Franklin met with reporters for a Monday afternoon press conference ahead of Penn State’s College Football Playoff game against SMU.
Franklin later said he wanted Monday’s focus to be on SMU. But he did dive deeper into the conversations with Allar that led him to make his decision to return. Allar has largely thrived this season under the tutelage of offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki and quarterbacks coach Danny O’Brien. In his second year as Penn State’s starter, Allar has played more confidently and has been a catalyst for Penn State’s CFP push.
