The next James Bond actor is a perfect fit.
The question of the next James Bond has been a divisive one so far, with plenty of people offering differing opinions about who is worthy of taking up the mantle next.
From Aaron Taylor-Johnson to Jacob Elordi, no shortage of names have been floated for casting James Bond, each with their own set of pros and cons. Following up Daniel Craig's performance is a tall order, and no proposal of any Hollywood icon has managed to win over a clear majority of fans.
Now, however, some are starting to think that the perfect casting for the next take on James Bond has already been found, courtesy of the new video game 007 First Light. Responding to an official 007 First Light video highlighting Patrick Gibson's in-game performance as James Bond, X user Dagan proposes that Gibson should be in consideration for the next film role.
Dagan argues that"Gibson has a whole game as his audition," giving him an opportunity to provide a performance that resonates with fans. Most of the replies are on board with the idea, and some think it could already be part of the plan. X user Crotch Rock It proposes that it might be"a test run to see the reaction," and Waffles2Slick says"Amazon MGM would be dumb not to test him" if his role in the game goes well.
Even skeptics can see the vision, with Shogun Daddy admitting they"do not particularly like him" but suggesting that considering him for the role"is only fair.
" I recently went hands-on with 007 First Light, and I'm certainly impressed by Gibson's performance so far. Pivoting to a different vibe might be the only way to succeed Daniel Craig without staying in his shadow, and Gibson brings a youthful, restless energy that rewrites the equation. Attempting to bring him into both movie and game continuities could complicate things a bit, however.
It wouldn't be anything entirely new, as Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig both appeared in some games with original narratives. Even so, 007 First Light has a much greater narrative emphasis than past games, and the games and films using the same actor to tell seperate stories with presumably separate continuities might be messy.

Regardless, it's hard to argue against the idea that Gibson should at least be in consideration. I'm not in love with any of the alleged frontrunners for the role at the moment, so I'm happy to see any more names thrown into the ring.
