Orlando Magic guard Jalen Suggs was forced to leave a game against the Toronto Raptors due to a back injury.
Orlando Magic star Jalen Suggs was wheelchaired off the court after he suffered a scary non-contact injury against the Toronto Raptors. While on defense, Suggs made a sudden leap toward the ball before collapsing on the ground and holding his back. Suggs exited the game to applause from the fans at Scotiabank Arena. The Magic later reported on social media that Suggs would not return to the game due to back spasms .
So far, he had recorded six points, one rebounds, and one assists over 13 minutes. Fortunately for the Magic, they had already had a dominant lead over the Raptors that they maintained throughout the game, winning with a score of 106-97. However, this could mean bad news for Orlando in the long term. Orlando is currently in fourth place in the Eastern Conference with a 20-15 record, largely because of Suggs' excellent play. His fourth season has been his best yet, averaging 16.8 points, 4.2 total rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.5 steals, and one block across 33 games. Given how intense his injury looked, there is a possibility that Suggs could miss significant time. Suggs was also a McDonald's All-American in 2020. Suggs later attended Gonzaga, where he played a single season as a freshman. Across 30 games, Suggs averaged 14.4 points, 5.3 total rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.9 steals. Suggs helped Gonzaga advance to the NCAA tournament championship by defeating UCLA with a game-winning buzzer beater in overtime. They lost to Baylor in the finals 86-70. Suggs received countless honors, including being named a consensus second-team All-American, first-team All-WCC, and WCC Newcomer of the Year
