Jalen Hurts likely had no idea how big his impact would be on the football field. But his mother, Pamela Hurts, recalls a family friend who saw greatness in him from an early age. 'She prophesied to me at that moment, ‘Your oldest son is going to do great things... but Jalen is going to play professionally in the NFL ’, and I always believed it,' Pamela said. Decades later, at 26-years-old, the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback is heading to his second Super Bowl in just two years.
This year's matchup is a rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs, who defeated the Eagles by just three points in Super Bowl LVII. Pamela is confident that the tables will turn this time. 'I think that, for one, he deserves it with all the work he’s put in, the work ethic, overcoming questionable calls. He has it in him. He has the will, the determination,' she said. Jalen credits his success to his faith in God. At a Super Bowl press conference Tuesday, he emphasized the importance of staying grounded spiritually. 'I think it's very important to be God-conscious in all things that you do, keep Him first, centered to Him and His word,' Jalen said. FOX 26 anchor DaLaun Dillard asked Pamela about Jalen’s outspoken faith. 'Where does that come from? You all raised him that way?''I guess family upbringing and the values we instilled in him... he's just like a sponge, always wanting to do the right thing,' Pamela responded. Throughout his career, Jalen has faced plenty of doubters, from his college days to his NFL journey. He often turns to his favorite scripture, John 13:7, which reads: 'You may not understand what’s happening now, but later you will understand.' As the Super Bowl approaches, Pamela believes everyone will soon understand. 'It’s very fulfilling because it’s not a matter of him trying to prove people wrong; it’s him proving himself right,' she said
