The Road House movie reboot from Jake Gyllenhaal has officially been confirmed as Amazon picks up the rights to the project. The original action film centered on Patrick Swayze's James Dalton, a cooler at a small town Missouri bar who comes up against a corrupt businessman looking to use the bar for illegal means. Alongside Swayze, the cast for Road House included Sam Elliott, Kelly Lynch, Ben Gazzara, Kevin Tighe, Red West and Jeff Healey.
Helmed by Rowdy Herrington on a script from David Lee Henry and Hilary Henkin, Road House scored largely mixed-to-negative reviews upon release, with praise directed towards Swayze's charismatic lead performance while criticism was directed towards its hammy plot.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY The Hollywood Reporter has brought word that Amazon has acquired Jake Gyllenhaal's Road House movie reboot, officially confirming the project's development. In addition to picking up the film, a full cast has been set for the reboot, including The Suicide Squad's Daniela Melchior, Game Night's Billy Magnussen, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Lukas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, B.K. Cannon, Arturo Castro, Dominique Columbus, Beau Knapp and Bob Menery.
