KLANG: Following the Health Ministry's revelation that six Malaysian Covid-19 cases were linked to a religious event at a mosque in Seri Petaling, the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) has banned all such activities in the state.
In a statement issued Friday , Jais director Shahzihan Ahmad said the temporary ban on all tabligh events was based on the Health Ministry's advice.Jais' directive comes following the Health Ministry's investigation that out of the 16,000 people who attended the tabligh event at the mosque on Feb 27 to March 1, some 14,500 were suspected to be Malaysians.
He added that other precautionary measures must also be taken such as maintaining good personal hygiene and keeping a distance from those believed to be infected.
