Jair Bolsonaro was narrowly beaten in Brazil's presidential election in October, as leftist rival Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva won with just 50.9% of the votes. The defeated former president has since been in the US, but is facing serious allegations that could impact his political future.

Mr Bolsonaro said he had not been voted in, but rather chosen by the supreme court.

Leftist Lula, 77, who previously served as president from 2003 to 2011, won the election with 50.9% of the votes.
