The stylish and capable J7 SUV has quickly captured the attention of South African car buyers. Despite being a relatively new entrant to the market, Jaecoo had already secured an impressive 26th position among automotive brands in July, surpassing established competitors with larger model ranges.
This achievement is even more remarkable considering Jaecoo offers only the J7 model in South Africa, with the J7 PHEV and flagship J8 set to join the line-up soon. The brand’s strong performance indicates a promising future in the country. Industry data from the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa reveals a positive trend in South Africa’s new vehicle market, with a 1.5% year-on-year increase in July this year. The passenger vehicle segment, including the Jaecoo J7, contributed to this growth, experiencing a 6.8% increase in sales.
Unlike many competitors reliant on rental companies, Jaecoo’s J7 sales are primarily driven by private buyers, highlighting strong consumer demand for the model. Shannon Gahagan, the national brand and marketing manager for Omoda & Jaecoo South Africa, expressed enthusiasm for the brand’s success, emphasising South Africa’s importance in Jaecoo’s global expansion plans.
