It feels increasingly like Jadon Sancho will leave Manchester United in the January transfer window. The 23-year-old has been frozen out at Old Trafford after his rather public falling out with Erik Ten Hag, and there is no resolution in sight unless he apologises to the manager, when he feels he is still in the right.
The Manchester Evening News revealed last month that the forgotten forward is open to leaving United when the winter transfer window opens, though he remains under contract until at least 2026, and club chiefs won't want to take a heavy loss on the £73 million they invested in him. Amad has not played a competitive game for the club since May 2021, though there have been fresh calls for him to finally get another chance after how well he did for Sunderland last season, where he won the club's Young Player of the Season award after netting 14 goals and notching four assists as they reached the play-offs.
His own poor level of performance is as much to blame as United's own poor planning, with Sancho quite clearly never the right fit on the right flank for a side that likes to play with inverted forwards. It's crucial that expectations are eased, though. Amad might have been brilliant in the second tier, but playing in the Premier League is a completely different challenge, especially for a youngster who will have just returned from injury.
