We’re bone dry right now, and with these conditions, it’s easy for even a small spark to cause big trouble. Please be careful if you’re outside today. If you smoke, make sure your cigarette butts go in the right place. Skip the fire pit—today isn’t the day for it. Even though wind gusts aren’t too high—just in the teens along the coast—the dry air means it doesn’t take much for a flame to get out of control. Exact Track 4D isn’t showing any rain for us until maybe this weekend, but even then, those chances are still looking pretty small.Right now, Jacksonville is sitting around 60 degrees, with Lake City a little cooler at 54, Gainesville at 57, and the coast staying around the low 60s. Winds today are mild, between 5 to 10 mph, so they’re not a big problem. We’re running a little above average for this time of year, but over the next five days, expect things to drop a bit below normal. High pressure is moving in, and that’s going to keep us dry. Like I said, not much meaningful rain is expected until we get closer to the weekend, and even then, the odds aren’t high.If you’re thinking about getting outside, today is perfect for things like washing the car or maybe carving some pumpkins. Just remember—not today for fire pits. Let’s keep everyone safe while we enjoy this beautiful weather.
