There’s a new Rookie of the Year favorite in the National League.
, Jackson Merrill is now the odds-on favorite to win the award, stealing the top spot from Paul Skenes , who was a near shoo-in less than a month ago.

There has also been some speculation that the Pirates could shut down or cut back on Skenes’ workload if they fade out of the playoff race in an attempt to keep the pitching phenom healthy for the long run, helping boost Merrill’s award odds.
