Northrop Grumman has unveiled Jackal – a turbo-jet powered precision strike missile aimed at bringing speed, precision, and versatility to the United States Armed Forces.
Jackal has a payload capacity of 10 pounds –which is sufficient for strike and ISR mission payloads.The rapid acceleration in Jackal is possible due to its turbo-jet propulsion which enables it to substantially reduce the time it takes to reach the target as compared to propeller driven weapons. It can take orders to mid-flight to change the target and rush off to complete its task from that point on.The company had first displayed the concept model of Jackal at an event in 2022. It hadthat it was developing the turbojet-powered loitering munition in collaboration with AeroVironment.
