Actor Jack P Shepherd, who plays David Platt on Coronation Street, showed the early results of his third hair transplant on his On The Sofa podcast, sparking reactions from co-hosts Ben Price and Colson Smith. Shepherd discussed his ongoing battle with hair loss and the mental health motivations behind his repeated procedures.
Coronation Street actor Jack P Shepherd, known for his role as David Platt, has revealed the early results of his third hair transplant during an episode of his On The Sofa podcast, which he co-hosts with former Coronation Street colleagues Ben Price and Colson Smith.
The 38-year-old actor displayed his freshly shaved head, showing a slightly bloodied scalp from the procedure he underwent the day before. This marks his third surgical intervention for hair loss, following previous transplants in 2018 and December 2019. During the podcast, Jack explained that hair loss continues to progress over time, which is why multiple procedures can be necessary. He detailed that his transplants have primarily focused on the front and sections of his scalp.
His co-host Ben Price, who plays Nick Tilsley, Jack's on-screen brother, expressed shock at the reveal, while Colson Smith, who played Craig Tinker, offered positive feedback, describing the look as something he rather liked. The group engaged in light-hearted ribbing, even comparing Jack to the character Megamind, before Ben concluded that he could get used to the new look.
Jack shared that the decision to have the procedure at that moment was influenced by his upcoming parental leave, as he and his wife Hanni are expecting their first child. He had previously opened up about how online trolling regarding his receding hairline impacted his confidence and mental well-being, emphasizing that for him, the transplants were about long-term mental health, especially given the demanding schedule and emotional intensity of his role on Coronation Street, which he has been part of since he was 12.
His wife Hanni reportedly had some concerns about the timing given the upcoming birth. The podcast moment captured a candid conversation about personal choices, the realities of hair restoration, and the support (or playful teasing) that comes from close friends
