As it turns out, the veteran rocker was the one who tossed out the invitiation for Black to swing by and craft a track with him. "He was like, 'Hey, if you're comin' through, why don't you come by and record a lil somethin' at my home studio,'" Black told Kimmel. "And we were like, 'Yes, we can't say no to that' 'cause he's a legend. He's my idol. I love Jack White.
Once the two Jacks had the recording session set, Black and bandmate Kyle Gass went to work writing a song about "how terrified we were to go rock for Jack White" and thus the Tenacious D song "Don't Blow It, Kage" was born. According to the comedic rocker, being invited into White's home studio is quite the experience. "It's like going to Graceland," he said. "Every room has been, like, meticulously curated with magic and humor and weirdness...Literally every square inch of that place has a moment of magic."
