is coming to Netflix next month. The film is a follow-up to the 1995 iconic film and reimagines the story for the modern world. It went on to earn nearly $1 billion at the box office.The film begins in 1996, when a boy named Alex finds the Jumanji board game on a beach.
Unlike in the original film, Alex finds a game cartridge inside the board. When he plays it that night, he gets sucked into the game and is presumed missing in the real world. 21 years later, in 2017, four high school students—Spencer, Fridge, Bethany, and Martha—find the game during their detention and decide to play it. When they start the game, all four are pulled in. Within the game, they take on the avatars of the characters they selected earlier. To escape, they must complete a quest to return a stolen jewel and lift a curse. Jake Kasdan helmed the film with a script by Chris McKenna. The cast features Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, Alex Wolff, Ser’Darius Blain, Morgan Turner, Madison Iseman, and Nick Jonas.
