Jacaranda trees set to spring major surprise

After a late and fairly lucklustre display in 2022, the jacaranda trees of eastern Australia are set for an explosion of purple in 2023

This might surprise quite a few people. Jacarandas in Sydney, Brisbane, and many places along the east coast have retained their leaves this winter, leading many to believe they may bloom late again this year, or not even bloom at all.Jacarandas originally come from South America and their schedule is not as regular as the European trees in our cities which tend to lose their leaves in autumn.

As you can see in the picture above taken in the last week of August 2023, the leaves are clinging on to many jacaranda trees, and those leaves still look fairly green.
