Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase achieved a historic feat by becoming the first player in NFL history to surpass both 1,700 receiving yards and 17 receiving touchdowns in a single season. He accomplished this feat by leading the league in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns.
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase made NFL history and finished first in all three categories that comprise the receiving ' Triple Crown '. Chase caught 10 passes for 96 yards and a touchdown in the Cincinnati's 19-17 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, which gave him 127 receptions for 1,708 yards and 17 touchdowns for the season. That made him the first receiver in NFL history to eclipse both 1,700 receiving yards and 17 receiving touchdowns in a single season.
He entered the Pittsburgh game with eight more receptions than anyone else, 133 more yards than anyone else, and four more touchdown receptions than anyone else. When those leads increased to 18 receptions, 229 yards and five touchdowns it left only Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson with a legitimate chance to catch Chase in a category. Jefferson, a former teammate at LSU, entered Sunday night's game against the Detroit Lions needing 230 yards to eclipse Chase but finished with 54 yards on three receptions. Chase is the fifth player since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger to win the receiving 'Triple Crown', joining Cooper Kupp (2021), Steve Smith (2005), Sterling Sharpe (1992) and Jerry Rice (1990). 'It’s an exciting thing to be a part of,' said Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. 'He deserves it all. He works really hard for it. He's obviously a great player, great person. To etch his name in history like that is really special, and I'm excited to be a part of it. I know everybody else is, too. I take pride in the fact that everybody eats in this offense. Obviously, No. 1 (Chase) is going to get his touches because our offense runs through him
