Lee Mack hosted the quiz show which aired over the weekend, as contestant Steven Wong sadly never got to see his television debut after passing away
The 1% Club viewers have been left devastated following the news that one of the contestants tragically died shortly after filming the ITV quiz show.
For whoever gets furthest, they have the chance to answer the all-important 1% question and take home whatever winnings are in the prize pot. However, the ITV studio audience often dwindle down as the questions get harder. Lee Mack was left impressed, before joking as Steven said he didn't like to talk about it, he quipped: "You say you don't like to talk about it, you brought it up on national television."
ITV Producers paid a heartwarming tribute to the contestant at the end of the programme, dedicating a solemn message to him in white text set against a black backdrop. It read: "In memory of Steven Wong. 1972-2024." Top TV news Elsewhere, another contestant had Lee in stitches when one of the questions that came up asked people to spot the error. The question was 'An Englishman, Irishman and Scotsman walk into a bar - which one is wrong?' notably, Englishman was spelt wrongly.
