Dr Hilary Jones sparked a flurry of Ofcom complaints
ITV 's Dr Hilary Jones has sparked controversy by suggesting Ozempic could potentially aid in treating lipedema - despite later admitting there is no scientific evidence to support this claim. His comments were made during a conversation with Ranvir Singh on an October episode of Lorraine, which subsequently led to 50 complaints being lodged with Ofcom.
Dr Hilary elaborated: "It's spreading like wildfire on Facebook but there are no clinical trials to suggest that it should be used in this instance - we need trials to see if it works! " He suggested that the drug was "likely" to be effective, but expressed concern over the potential cost. "If everybody who was eligible for weight loss jabs had them it would cost the NHS £20 million," he informed viewers.
