A former Emmerdale star is set for major surgery and has shared a snap from his hospital bed. Matthew Wolfenden , known for his role as David Metcalfe on the hit ITV soap, has revealed to fans that he's facing an operation this week, coming shortly after confirmation that his character won't be making a comeback to the Dales.
In the Instagram post, Matthew, who separated from his wife Charlie Webb last year, told his followers about his impending knee surgery, posting a picture that seemed to show him waiting in a hospital bed, captioning it: "Ready to go down for surgery on my knee."This news comes just weeks after Emmerdale referenced his character David following his departure from the show last year.
The beloved character was last seen waving goodbye to the village in November, as he set off to reunite with his ex Priya Sharma and their daughter Amba Metcalfe . His exit was spurred by the revelation that his son Jacob Gallagher had sparked a romance with Victoria Sugden , David's former flame.
