Amore Mio will be an Italian restaurant and piano bar paying homage to the Italian-American restaurants of mid-20th century New York City, developers of the project said.
The anticipated opening of Amore Mio in downtown Aurora could happen next week. That was the word this week from Roberto Avila and Erika Villanueva, the restaurant’s developers and owners. They have been redeveloping the former Gillerson’s Grubbery building at 31-33 W. New York St. into Amore Mio, an Italian restaurant and piano bar paying homage to the Italian-American restaurants of mid-20th century New York City. The City Council is set to vote at its regular meeting Oct.
The upfront money allowed the restaurant owners to finish the rebuild of two floors of the older building, including a basement space that hasn’t been used in roughly 50 years. The first floor of the restaurant will be a dining room, and the basement space will be for dining and for a lounge that will feature live music, including a piano bar, Avila has said.
