The government now has three roles to fill on the public broadcaster’s board, after the chairwoman said she would not to seek a second term.
Communications Minister Michelle Rowland praised Ms Buttrose for her stable leadership of the broadcaster through the COVID-19 pandemic, and for overseeing its transformation into a more digitally focused organisation.“Ms Buttrose was the right chair for the right time,” Ms Rowland said in a statement on Tuesday.
“[She] is a formidable corporate leader who has served with distinction, speaking truth to power and upholding governance standards to protect independent public broadcasting. “She has much to do in the remainder of her term and will leave the ABC stronger than when she was entrusted with the role in 2019.”Ms Buttrose has made no secret she believes the board selection process has flaws.
