A former Whitehall police officer said he was unjustly fired last Friday, but the Whitehall police chief said he showed a willingness to cause irreparable harm.

said he was unjustly fired last Friday, but the Whitehall police chief said he showed a willingness to cause irreparable harm.

Ortega said he presented the results to Whitehall's mayor, and the mayor received a copy of the results on May 28th. According to Ortega, that same day, department leadership called him in to talk, and he was put on administrative leave on May 30th. On July 5th, Ortega received his employment termination letter.

A third video shows Ortega on the job, and he said, “Looking forward to retiring every day." A resident he was speaking with proceeded to ask him if he's been with the department for 25 years. Then, the video cuts off. "Chief didn't like the survey, didn't like the responses, and decided that he needed to find a reason to fire me," said Ortega. "So they spent a month going through all my body camera footage to come up with those few statements that you have in your hand that were taken out of context to justify firing me."
